Sophie’s Cookery School is a pop-up cookery school, led by Sophie Grigson, who started the business with the aim of sharing her love of delicious food and simple ingredients by teaching people to cook in an informal, enthusiastic, and relaxed environment. Our sessions are fun and accessible, but also informative and supported by Sophie’s wealth of culinary knowledge, as well as that of our wonderful guest teachers. We run a huge variety of general classes throughout the year, each based around a specific culinary theme, such as patisserie, tapas, Vietnamese food, or any one of the dozens of other sessions that we offer.
As we are a pop-up cookery school, we can come to deliver courses to you. Anyone is free to book a place and come along to one of our general classes in central Oxford, but if you are organising a private event such as a corporate day, a hen party, or a birthday dinner, then let us do the hard work and come to your location. We are based in Oxford, but can travel to deliver classes to venues within a reasonable distance. All we need is a room with a table that is large enough to accommodate your group, and a sink with an area which we can use for washing up (some of our classes require the use of ovens, but not all: we can tailor a class to suit a space). We’ll bring all of the ingredients and equipment you need, as well as setting up and cleaning down at the beginning and end of the class.
All of the recipes that are taught in the class will be yours to keep, and Sophie and the team would be delighted to stay in touch and to answer any queries you may have in the future. We love working with people and are always eager to hear new ideas. While you can find examples of the classes we offer on our classes page, and ideas for corporate events and hen parties on our site, we are very flexible and would love to design a class specifically for you and your group, or feature a new general class if there is a demand.
